Hari Raya Celebration

Marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan is the festival of Eid, known in Singapore as Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Hari Raya Puasa. Children were introduced to how and why Muslims celebrate the festival. The children participated in various cooperative games with their peers. The classroom was decorated with the children's colourful crafts depicting symbols often used to represent Ramadan such as the crescent moons, and stars.

The children would enjoy sampling traditional Hari Raya delicacies such as Lontong Sayur Lodeh (vegetable coconut curry which features compressed rice cake), and various types of Kuih (sweet snacks). These treats were provided during snack time, allowing children to experience the flavours and textures of Hari Raya cuisine.

Lastly, teachers and children exchanged wishes and shared things they were sorry or grateful for. This tradition teaches them the importance of being compassionate and patient.
